Ahead of its Annual Meeting and Joint Conference with CEIR and Pneurop in Brussels this May, Europump president Vanni Vignoli looks on the EU’s roadmap for industrial help.

Following its bulletins of 5 May 2021 updating the New Industrial Strategy proposed in 2020, the European Commission has additional indicated that it will rely fairly closely on trade to deliver on the main challenges faced by our economies and societies in Europe. This is particularly the case in relation to sustainability, digital transformation, and world competitiveness, as properly as the want to overcome the disaster provoked by the Covid-19 pandemic. The EU Recovery and Resilience Plan launched in Spring 2021 is basically constructing on the aptitude of European industry to design and produce the constructing blocks of the dual green and digital transition. At the same time, the EU is shaping a dense regulatory framework that doesn’t always assist the liberty and adaptability wanted for companies to develop and compete globally.

In parallel, digitalisation has provided increased opportunities and brought new challenges, including debates on the suitable regulatory level (sharing of business information, synthetic intelligence, cybersecurity, etc).
These developments, amidst ever extra fierce international competition, require that public authorities and industry within the EU work more and more extra intently to design and deploy methods that reinforce our competitiveness and our contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This will be the subject of the initial debate kicking off our Joint EU Policy Conference, which is able to convey collectively key policy makers from the three EU policy institutions in command of the Industrial Strategy and three Executives representing and illustrating the achievements loved, and challenges nonetheless confronted, by these three key sectors of business.
Specific Technical and Policy Issues
As the regulatory panorama across Europe, and indeed the entire world, becomes ever more complicated, the burden on industry only increases. It therefore falls to sector specific trade organisations, such as Europump, CEIR and Pneurop, to establish and advise on these technical and coverage issues most related to their respective sectors. In our particular enviornment, that relates, in fact, to the manufacture, distribution and use of pumps and all pump related equipment – a huge and important subset of trade, given the width and breadth of pump applications.
Against this backdrop, one of the primary issues when figuring out the core themes for the joint conference was to keep up a direct reference to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). Within this focus, the three associations intend to spotlight how, together with the importance for corporations to address technical features impacting their every day enterprise operations, they consider the positive role of business in addressing societal challenges. Indeed, all the classes will have a technical theme matching probably the most appropriate UN SDG, and with illustration from the European Commission along with technical experts from business and/or analysis institutes, they’ll each be reflective of the present legislative terrain, as it pertains to pumps and pumping techniques within the following key areas:
